Definitions of Political Terms

 

 
Wyoming Constitution: Article 1, Section 18....The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship without discrimination or preferences shall be forever guaranteed in this state, and no person shall be rendered incompetent to hold any office of trust or profit, or to serve as a witness or juror, because of his opinion on any matter of religious belief whatsoever; but the liberty of conscience hereby secured shall not be so construed as to excuse acts of licentiousness or justify practices inconsistent with the peace or safety of the state.

            The many issues of medical care and medical insurance is once again a big part of the Legislative debate, as well it should be. The Wyoming health care system is ailing, the citizens are at risk, and some action is needed.

 

            One area of concern is the collection of accurate data on medical errors, how better to find the areas within the medical field that harm the citizens than to create a system to identify the mistakes?

 

            This information does not have to become part of the public record. It can be used within the halls of government to effect improvements, but not be used to point fingers.

 

            Senator Mike Massie from Laramie has sponsored such an effort this Session, Senate File #113; Medical safety event reporting.

            The bill has passed the hurdle of the first committee, and is now on the floor of the Senate waiting to be discussed.
