Are you paying attention to the activities of the Legislature yet? Well, you should be, because the fun is 25 % over already, and you don’t want to miss out! Remember that the Session is 40 working days long, and each bill has to go through both chambers. Practically speaking, a bill has a maximum of 20 days to get through each chamber.
That sounds like more than enough, and if a bill has the blessings of the leadership it most certainly is. If not, then there are potential problems in the way of smooth sailing. Each bill has to pass through a committee before hitting the floor, and some of the committees do not meet all that often. That is a potential holdup for any bill, especially if the committee has a heavy load of bills.
Do your State Senator and State Representative know who you are yet? Well, they most certainly should! You have had two weeks to look at the vast range of issues within the large number of bills and send them your opinion. How will they know what to do if you do not gently guide them along the path of common sense and righteousness? They need you!
My website has the links to various parts of the legislative website if that would help, you can go to…

…and get connected. This is a fledgling website effort, so if you have suggestions for improvements, send them along.
Tomorrow looks like it will be a full day, there is an early committee meeting on an issue relating to health care and a late one relating to education. There will be more on that in a subsequent mailing.
As a final note, keep in mind that famous legislative maxim…if it ain’t broke, fix it until it is!’
